Jadeveon Clowney

Jadeveon Clowney had one of his best seasons in the NFL in 2021 with 9 sacks, 19 quarterback hits and 11 tackles for loss. Each of those numbers would have led the Seahawks this past season. One of the biggest questions about Clowney isn’t whether he is talented enough to be an impact player but if he can consistently stay healthy.

In 2021, Clowney played 14 games. Expecting him to ever play a full season might be asking too much (Clowney has only done that one in his eight years in the league – 2017) but missing only three is an improvement over 2020 when Clowney missed eight.

But maybe we should throw out Clowney’s 2020 season altogether because he also failed to record a sack for the first time since 2014 and just 6 tackles for loss but had his second-most passes defended with 4. It’s safe to say Clowney was being used in a weird way by the Titans.

In 2019, Clowney played for the Seahawks, of course, and while he had just 3 sacks he definitely had a positive impact. Seattle wasn’t going to overpay for him, though, after the season and Clowney left for Tennessee. He has actually played for a different team in each of the last four years.

dark. Next. 3 Vikings that could follow Karl Scott to the Seahawks

Maybe if the Seahawks offer the 29-year-old Clowney a multi-year deal that would be enough to lure him back to Seattle. With a presumed more aggressive defense under new defensive coordinator Clint Hurtt, Clowney’s raw numbers would likely be higher than they were in 2019. Pairing him opposite Carlos Dunlap at defensive end should also be a scary thing for opposing offenses.
