The Seattle Seahawks have traded Russell Wilson. Now rumors are circulating that Seattle is interested in Deshaun Watson. I will ask this: Have 12s done something we are unaware of to make John Schneider and Pete Carroll hate us?

I get that Watson is just 26 years old and Wilson is 32. But Wilson is also the guy who used to visit Seattle’s Children’s Hospital every Tuesday for nearly the length of his career who never caused any legal issues off the field while Watson, um…isn’t that guy.

Watson has 22 civil suits against him currently for sexual misconduct during massage sessions while he was playing in Houston for the Texans. I don’t know if Watson is guilty of these things but I know he is being questioned about them. There is nothing of this sort that has ever happened with Wilson.

Seahawks shouldn’t be interested in Deshaun Watson

The question becomes which expensive quarterback do Carroll and Schneider want as the face of the franchise. Winning games is important, of course, in the NFL. Coaches and players can make a pretty good livelihood being a part of successful teams. Wilson, though, still should have several good years left. Watson might be good, too, for several years if he ever gets back on the field.

But with Wilson, the Seahawks could say, “This is our quarterback!” and be proud he wins games and safe in the knowledge he wasn’t going to embarrass the team. Does this happen with Watson? No. And that’s before he even has a chance to get to Seattle.

When winning games becomes so important that franchises lose sight of the fact that the team is also part of the community then there is an issue. Schneider and Carroll have seemed to have understood this. But after trading Wilson and Seattle reportedly having an interest in obtaining Watson, I am not sure this is still the case.

Next. 3 possible replacements for Russell Wilson (and one is already off the board). dark

Maybe there is simply a lot of speculation of who the next quarterback is for the Seahawks and no real interest in Deshaun Watson. But where there is smoke – like all the rumors about Seattle possibly trading Russell Wilson before he was traded – there is usually fire. Just like there is a lot of smoke around Deshaun Watson and his sexual misconduct allegations.
