Who is the Seahawks newly acquired tight end Noah Fant?
By Geoff Shull
The Seattle Seahawks have traded away Russell Wilson for a massive haul. You can read more about the trade details here. This article is focused purely on tight end Noah Fant.
Noah Fant is a four-year starter for the Broncos. He entered the draft as one of the most athletic players at his position. At the combine, he tested out of this world.
- 40 yard dash – 4.5 second (96th percentile)
- Vertical jump – 39.5 inches (97th percentile)
- Broad Jump – 127 inches (95th percentile)
- 3-cone – 6.81 seconds (95th percentile
He also houses an ideal frame at 6’4″ and 250 piunds. Entering the NFL, he was highlighted as one of the hidden gems and more underrated blockers. Fast forward to today and we get a 24-year-old tight end in the last year of his rookie contract.
Getting to know the Seahawks newly acquired TE Noah Fant
Fant has averaged 640 yards per season with 10 total touchdowns in three years. Over the 2021 season, Fant had zero drops out of his 89 targets. He also had a receiving rating of 112, which is very good. Fant is likely an upgrade over Will Dissly and equal as a receiver to Gerald Everett.
The biggest issue with Fant thus far in his career has been subpar quarterback play. Over the last three seasons, Fant’s on target rate (quarterbacks throwing it accurately to him) is just 75 percent.
The problem is, the Seahawks do not have Russell Wilson anymore. The quarterbacks under contract are his fellow trade acquisition Drew Lock. Jacob Eason is still on the roster after having been acquired during the 2021 season.
Not overly promising. Again, I wish we had acquired Javonte Williams. Feels like a better plug-and-play addition considering the strong tight end draft. Fant has sky-high potential. Fant is realistically a younger and better blocking version of Gerald Everett. However, the one-year contract remaining really bites.
