Billy Turner

I started to go with center J.C. Tretter on this list but didn’t. The Seahawks likely already have their center for next year and beyond when they signed Austin Blythe this week. Blythe may not make the Pro Bowl be he is an experienced center who knows perfectly how to block in Shane Waldron’s system.

That said, Pete Carroll is still the head coach and as long as he is in Seattle, Carroll is going to want to obtain a lineman or two who can play nearly anywhere on the line. This allows Seattle to plug in a starter as needed when Seattle loses a player to injury. Billy Turner can do this.

Turner is 30 years old and for the last three seasons has played in Green Bay and started 43 of 49 games for the Packers and in the last two years combined he has allowed just 5 sacks. Before joining Green Bay, Turner played for the Denver Broncos. I bring this up to point out that in 2018 with Denver, Turner played left guard. In 2019, Turner played right guard. And in 2020, he was a right tackle. This past year he played several different spots.

Green Bay is having to create cap space this offseason after not having any after 2021 and then signing Aaron Rodgers to a massive deal. Turner was released by the Packers this week because of this. The Seahawks need to scoop him up.
