3 potential landing spots for Seahawks receiver DK Metcalf

The New York Jets have a terrible offense and need help in lots of different ways. But just imagine DK Metcalf in New York. Not the team, mind you, but the city. Metcalf’s personality is made for a place like New York. He is funny, outgoing and the camera likes him. He would be a megastar in New York. Oh, and he would help the Jets be better too.

But, of course, as a Seahawks fan, I don’t really care if the Jets are any good. So what’s the attraction of trading Metcalf to the Jets? Draft picks and lots of them. New York has been needing a player like Metcalf for years so why would the Jets not happily give up some of their abundance of draft capital for him?

New York also needs a great receiver or two to help second-year quarterback Zach Wilson. Wilson struggled in 2021 because he had no help in the passing game and poor protection. Metcalf would give Wilson the kind of target that every quarterback craves.

For Seattle, they need to ask for quite a bit. The Jets currently have two top-ten choices in the 2022 draft, pick number 4 and pick number 10. Seattle doesn’t need number 4. While the Seahawks would get a potentially great player at number 4, there isn’t a huge difference between 4 and 10 this year. So Seattle should ask for pick 10 which is the pick New York got from Seattle in the Jamal Adams trade in 2021.

But the Seahawks should also ask for one of New York’s two second-round choices this year as well. Plus, pick up a couple of 2023 picks and the trade should be done.
