Drew Lock

I realize Drew Lock has never played a down of football for the Seahawks. But part of his issue in Denver was the offensive coaching staff there had no idea of how to be NFL coaches and now they have mostly been fired. Lock came into a situation that was nearly a no-win one.

Yes, the Broncos have talented wide receivers and Noah Fant has good potential but the offensive line was bad and the direction of the offense was terrible. A great veteran quarterback might have struggled with the coaching staff with the Broncos it was that bad.

Lock reportedly struggled with confidence while in Denver because he was never able to build any. He has the athletic ability and arm strength to be a decent quarterback in the NFL. In Seattle, he will (I can hope and assume DK Metcalf isn’t traded) have great receivers and one, in particular, Tyler Lockett, will supply him with skilled veteran leadership Lock didn’t have in Denver.

Pete Carroll likes an offense that can run well and practices ball control but he also likes quarterbacks who can throw deep. Lock has the ability and in Lockett and Metcalf he has receivers who know how to get open deep. Lock shouldn’t be afraid to be aggressive in 2022 and go long.
