Prediction number 1: The Seahawks have no intention of drafting a quarterback in round one.

This time of year is filled with smoke screens and misinformation. The games are afoot, and every team is positioning itself to be one step ahead.

Mock drafts left and right have the Seahawks targeting a quarterback in round one. They see:

Hey, Russell Wilson is no longer on the team. The Seahawks can’t possibly think Drew Lock is an answer. Let’s just plug in a QB here.

The Seahawks are A-OK with this happening. They want others to think they want a QB. They want teams to try and trade past them to grab a QB before they do.

That is because their real intention in round one is to snag one of the elite linemen. I think they have 5 players in mind for their first pick, and they need a little help with any of them lasting to pick number 9.

  • Evan Neal, OT
  • Ikem Ekwonu, OL
  • Kayvon Thibodeaux, Edge
  • Travon Walker, Edge
  • Jermaine Johnson, Edge

All of these prospects are top-tier. The team sees the potential to fill their current holes with players with sky-high potential and they want to pounce. They need future cornerstones for the franchise and any of these 5 could fill at least some of this void.

They want the media to portray a narrative that the Seahawks need a QB (or Charles Cross) in round 1. They want other teams to try and draft past them to draft the smoke screen player so their true player falls to them.
