Prediction number 3: The Seahawks have surprisingly been quiet in the offensive tackle free agency market. I think I know why.

I think the Seahawks have already spoken to the representatives of Duane Brown and Brandon Shell. Both of which have a soft offer already penciled in.

I think all parties have come to terms pending the outcome of the draft. The Seahawks want to see if a certain someone or someones fall(s) to them in the draft. If he/ they do, they will forego signing either or try to bring them in for a significantly lower deal.

If the players the Seahawks are targeting are taken before they are selected, they will turn the soft offers into hard offers and get a contract submitted/signed within a day or two of the draft.

I think they are hoping these players fall to them at pick 9:

  • Evan Neal, OT
  • Ikem Ekwonu, OT

I think if those two are gone, they could trade back and hope one of these two is available later in the first:

  • Trevor Penning, OT
  • Abraham Lucas, OT

If one of the first two players are available (Neal and Ekwonu), I think they bypass bringing either Brown or Shell unless it’s is for substantially less.

If the player is in the second group (Penning and Lucas), I think they still bring them back so these players can sit and learn for a year.
