3 moves Seahawks should make Tuesday to improve 2022
By Lee Vowell
There are less than two weeks before the NFL draft but the Seattle Seahawks could still make several moves before then that help make 2022 successful.
Besides the moves that follow, Seattle could bring back Duane Brown to protect whichever quarterback is leading the team. Or maybe Brandon Shell, the oft-injured right guard. Or maybe Seattle should go in different directions.
The three moves that follow could even be multi-year changes that help rebuild the team for future success. And who doesn’t want another run like the Seahawks had in the early 2010s?
Three moves the Seahawks should make Tuesday to make this coming season better
Trade for Baker Mayfield
I know lots of 12s don’t want Baker Mayfield but why not? A trade for Mayfield likely means the Browns aren’t going to get much back in draft capital and Cleveland will probably also have to eat a lot of his 2022 contract. There is very little to lose for a team to obtain Mayfield.
And for Seahawks fans, does Mayfield give Seattle a better chance to win than Geno Smith or Drew Lock? Yes. And if you say Mayfield doesn’t then why? Mayfield has won a playoff game recently. Before he got injured in 2021, he was actually pretty good.
In the first six games of this past year, Mayfield had three games of a QB rating of 102.4 or better, 6 touchdowns against 3 interceptions. Cleveland started 3-1. Mayfield isn’t the second coming of Russell Wilson but who is? Plus, if things don’t work out in 2022, Mayfield will have to find a new home as he only has one year left on his current deal.
