Seahawks news for Wednesday includes DK Metcalf to Browns trade idea
By Lee Vowell
There is a bit over a week before the 2022 NFL draft but Seahawks news never stops including one site’s idea of a Baker Mayfield for DK Metcalf trade idea.
While most of the Seattle talk is about what the team will do with pick number 9 in the draft (my guess is trade back), there are still lots of things of note for the Seahawks.
Plus, there are still all the DK Metcalf trade rumors, including a recent idea to trade him to Cleveland.
Seahawks news for Wednesday includes DK and Beast Mode
DK Metcalf for Baker Mayfield?
Our friends at FanSided’s Browns site Dawg Pound Daily had a recent article that suggested different trade ideas for Baker Mayfield. One includes Cleveland trading Mayfield to Seattle along with a second-round pick for DK Metcalf.
I get the idea. A quarterback with starting experience plus a second-round choice? But here’s the thing. Mayfield shouldn’t even be worth a fifth-round choice at this point because Cleveland has basically stuck themselves with him. So throw out Mayfield and you’ve got Metcalf for a second-round pick. No, thank you.
Kraken go Beast Mode
Marshawn Lynch is now a part-owner of the Seattle Kraken. On Monday, Seattle’s hockey franchised announced that Beast Mode along with rapper and Seattleite Macklemore were new minority owners of the team. No details were announced but it’s likely about a 1 percent share.

Maybe that’s not much but the way the Kraken has gone about actively involving the community and getting well-known Seattle entertainment and sports figures engaged in the franchise should be mirrored by many professional sports teams.
Seahawks host safety Damontae Kazee
Seattle reportedly brought in free agent safety Kazee for a visit on Tuesday. Kazee started 15 games for the Cowboys last season and had a QBR-allowed of 85.8, so not terrible. In fact, throughout his five-year career, Kazee has been pretty good in coverage and had 7 interceptions for Atlanta in 2018.
The assumption is that Kazee will be part of a rotation at safety but Jamal Adams and Quandre Diggs would clearly remain the starters. Or Seattle sees recent signee Justin Coleman as an outside corner and Kazee at nickel. Or Adams as more of a hybrid linebacker role and Kazee at safety. Who knows?
