Round 1, Pick 12 (via MIN)

Pick Analysis. Georgia. JordanDavis. 20. 814. Scouting Report. DT. player

Georgia defensive tackle Jordan Davis jumps off the screen in both physique and impact. Entering the draft at 6-foot-6-inch, 341 pounds, Davis takes up a lot of space. Most impressively though, he displayed unreal athleticism at the combine, posting a 4.78 40-time along with a 32-inch vertical. He capped off the 2021 season as the highest graded tackler in the stacked SEC and immensely contributed to a national championship victory over Alabama.

On the surface, this pick may seem illogical. Of the many needs on this current roster, defensive tackle isn’t high on the list. But, as we have seen in the past with Seattle, some of their first-round selections can be head scratchers. After resigning Al Woods, bringing back Quinton Jefferson and currently having Poona Ford under contract, the pick wouldn’t make sense at first. Especially with other needs such as cornerback, offensive line or quarterback.

Yet, his measurables, intelligence and personality all blend into why this pick makes sense for the Seahawks. Many may strongly disagree with this pick and even ridicule the Seahawks for it, but based on the methods teams use when it comes to drafting young prospects, Davis jumps off the charts.

  • 1st team All-SEC
  • Receipt of the Chuck Bednarik Award & Outland Trophy
  • National Champion

At nose tackle, Davis can serve as a menace. His mere size alone will naturally clog running holes. Coupled with his quick shedding ability, he can help rebuild this Seattle defensive line that plans to have a lot of speed on the edges. Also, he will force teams to double him making the life of Jordyn Brooks easier in the run game. Moving forward with him, Darrell Taylor, Uchenna Nwosu, Shelby Harris and Poona Ford is a step in the right direction in retooling this defense.
