The Seattle Seahawks needed to remake their cornerback group this offseason and taking Tariq Woolen is a big step-kick towards that.

Plus, there is no way of getting around the comparisons between Woolen and former Seahawks CB Richard Sherman. Both started college as receivers before moving to cornerback. Both are tall – Woolen is 6’4″ and 210 pounds with 33 1/2″ arms. He looks a lot like a young Sherman.

Also, there is this: Both Woolen and Sherman were fifth-round choices for Seattle.

Coupled with Seattle taking Coby Bryant in the fourth round, the Seahawks could very well be on their way to creating the Legion of Boom 2.0. Of course, I don’t want to assume too much but there can be no doubt that the players that have fallen to Seattle in this draft have helped make this draft potentially very special.

Seahawks might be be remaking the Legion of Boom with the help of Tariq Woolen

Both Bryant and Woolen could easily develop into top-30 cornerbacks in a couple of years. Bryant is further ahead in development than Woolen but Woolen’s raw skills might be even better.

Not only is Woolen a large corner, but he also has been timed at 4.34 in the 40 and had the top measured max speed (22.45 MPH) of any other player regardless of position at the Senior Bowl this year.

Woolen is the sixth pick in the Seattle 2022 draft and it is shaping up to be a very special one. Seattle needed help along the offensive line and got it by taking two potentially very good tackles. The Seahawks needed edge rusher help and got Boye Mafe in the second round. But in the fourth and fifth rounds alone, Seattle might have just drafted its two outside starting corners for the next 6-8 years.

Next. Bold predictions for Day #?. dark

Tariq Woolen is going to take a bit to truly develop, but by 2023 he could be ready to start. And his size and speed will allow Seattle to play a lot more press coverage than they have been able to do in the last few years. Woolen is the latest piece in a magnificent Seattle 2022 draft.
