Seattle Seahawks 2023 mock draft: Never too early to guess
By Lee Vowell
Fifth and sixth rounds
Moss is a strong safety who doesn’t really have the speed to play free safety. But he is a ferocious tackler and is intelligent enough to get his body in the correct position in coverage. He doesn’t have the physical skill of Jamal Adams (few players do, especially when it comes to pass rush) but Moss is a closer match to Adams than Qunadre Diggs.
Moss had 4 interceptions in 2021 so he can cover a bit but his strength is really in run support. If Seattle takes him, Moss will probably be depth at safety but a beast on special teams. The Seahawks love guys who can play in the third phase of the game.
I guess Pro Football Network’s mock simulator really wanted to steer me towards Big 10 guys. That’s OK as they normally have toughness and taking a player like that in the late rounds is fine. The speed guys usually go earlier.
Windmon, though, is different. He entered the transfer portal after playing at UNLV and 2022 will be his first year at MSU. He has good speed and had 6.5 sacks for UNLV in 2021. Windmon is more of a blitzing edge rusher than a linebacker too.
Gray is 5’10” and 205 pounds and has good speed and can catch the ball out of the backfield. Most expected him to enter the 2022 draft but after transferring from Tennessee to Oklahoma before last year, Gray was a disappointment. He has good skill, though, and could be a riser up draft boards with a good 2022 season.
