Seahawks going international! Play Bucs in Germany in 2022 season
By Lee Vowell
The NFL announced that the Seahawks will be one of the teams playing internationally during the 2022 season. Seattle is set to play in Germany.
Seattle will play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Munich on November 13th and kickoff will be really early for 12s on the West Coast. The game will start at 6:30 am PT. This will be the first NFL game played in Germany and will happen at Bayern Munich’s stadium, Allianz Arena.
In Seattle’s pre-draft press conference, general manager John Schneider and head coach Pete Carroll basically let it slip that the team would be playing in Germany this coming season. They were asked about what they had been listening to at Seahawks headquarters recently and Schneider stated all kinds of music but that he and Carroll had started “German lessons.”

The comment seemed pretty odd to make unless Seattle already knew they were going to be chosen to play in Germany. This became official on Tuesday.
It appears the team has a decently large following in Germany too. Combined the German Sea Hawkers have about 32,000 followers on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. And they stay extremely up-to-date on all platforms and are worth following.
Of course, for any Germans thinking about catching the game live, Tampa Bay’s Tom Brady is a pretty big draw as well. Still, when Seattle played in London in 2018, there seemed to be tons of 12s there and maybe 12s can turn Allianz Arena into basically a “home” game too.
This will be the Week 10 game for Seattle and by that time the 2022 version of the team should have a pretty good idea of who they are. Seattle will have new full-time starting quarterback and a bunch of promising rookies.
There will be five NFL international games in total. Three of them will be in London and one will be in Mexico. But of course, the only one that really matters is the Seahawks one in Germany. The rest of Seattle’s schedule will be announced on May 12 along with every other lesser team.
