The Seattle Seahawks appear to have had a really good draft in 2022. Of course, we won’t truly know how the class turns out for years. What we do know is three players who have been with the team might need to be released.

Every team goes through some attrition, of course. Teams also have a choice to either keep relatively high-priced or take a chance on another player just because it will save that team money.

For instance, Seattle could have released kicker Jason Myers – they still could but that seems unlikely – and the team would have saved $4 million and only owed Myers $1 million. Not trimming a veteran kicker from the roster and saving 80 percent of his salary means the team must have a lot of faith in the kicker.

3 Seahawks that are lucky to have a chance to make the Week 1 roster

But after choosing nine players in this year’s draft with many of them, if not all, making the active roster in Week 1 then decisions about which veterans to keep or not become more pressing. Seattle has a glut of safeties on the team, for instance, and it doesn’t make sense for them all to stay on the 52-man roster.

The Seahawks also have a number of wide receivers, especially after drafting two in round seven. We know Tyler Lockett, DK Metcalf and Dee Eskridge are going to be on the team but Seattle might only keep four receivers. The spot for that last one is going to be tight.

So which three Seahawks are lucky to even have a current chance of making the Week 1 roster? Maybe the three that follow.
