Rashaad Penny

To be honest, Penny kind of shocked most 12s at the end of 2021. I mean, we thought he could potentially be productive if only were he to stay healthy but Penny went from always hurt to top-five back in five weeks. He wasn’t good at the end of the season; He was otherworldly.

Through Week 12 of last year, Penny had played 46 snaps. He had 17 carries and run for 43 yards and that is an average of 2.5 yards a rush. So I promise you if you fell asleep after Week 12 and are just now waking up that the following is not a lie: Rashaad Penny led the NFL in yards per carry last year at 6.3.

Even though Penny had those few reps through Week 12, Penny ended up leading the Seahawks in rushing by 338 yards and he finished with 749. The sad part of all those is that Penny has now been in Seattle for four years and has been oft-injured. Seattle signed veteran Adrian Peterson midway through 2021 and Peterson appeared to have a huge influence on Penny and talked him into staying on the field even when Penny thinks he might be hurt.

Peterson might be worth re-signing this offseason simply to have the same veteran influence on Penny again in 2022.

But Penny will shock the world this coming season by playing in 15 games and gaining 1,400 yards and 10 touchdowns. He will be so good that Seattle won’t be able to afford him in 2023 and Penny will move on to another team.
