The Seahawks are a team in transition in 2022. There will likely be a lot of rotation and changes during the season. But who might be the starters in Week 1?

Before I get into predicting (likely wrongly and I am OK with that) who will start for Seattle this year, let me just say how excited I am by the Seattle 2022 draft. There might be at least three immediate starters among the group. Plus, many of the players could wind up starting for Seattle for many seasons.

Also, looking at who might start this year, Seattle has a lot of talent and maybe they will exceed the expectations that many pundits will have.

(I am going to start this prediction piece with special teams, simply because that group seems to be the most obvious.)

Who will be the Seahawks starters in Week 1 of the 2022 season?

Special teams

Kicker – Jason Myers

Seattle obviously has a lot of faith in Myers. The team could have saved $4 million by releasing Myers and only owed him $1 million but there wasn’t even a whisper they would. Myers has been a good kicker, though, for several years.

Punter – Michael Dickson

Dickson will be entering year four of his career and should be in Seattle for the next 8-10 seasons. Seattle isn’t going to need a punter for a very long time.

Punt/kick return – Bo Melton

This one may be the one I am most of the limb about. The Seahawks need both a punt and kick returner, or at least one who isn’t afraid to try to create yards from the chaos. Rookie Melton has enough experience and enough speed to be a good returner in the league.
