The Seattle Seahawks have finished the 2022 NFL draft and most of the splashy free agents are gone. But there are still players who could help round out the roster.

Seattle enters the season with some good potential at several position groups but in those same groups, there are plenty of question marks. If there is such a thing as boom or bust among position units, cornerback, edge rusher and depth at receiver would be it for Seattle.

Seattle likely isn’t going to the postseason this coming season but they also could surprise most everyone. By signing a few impactful free agents, Seattle could finish in the top half of the league or better.

Three free agents the Seattle Seahawks should sign right now

Justin Houston, edge rusher

None of the guys on this list are going to be long-term players. But they don’t need to be. Seattle is trying to rebuild the team and get younger and faster for the future. Still, even though Houston is 33 years old, he can play in a 3-4 and he stays available for each game. He would be a bonus to the pass rush rotation filled with young guys.

Last year with the Baltimore Ravens, Houston had 4.5 sacks but 17 quarterback hits. While he wasn’t getting home as much as he usually does – his number of sacks was the lowest Houston ever had other than 2016 when he only played 5 games – he was still getting a lot more pressure than most of the Seahawks were in 2021.

If Seattle can get Houston for relatively cheap, they should do it. Plus, he could teach players like Darrell Taylor and Boye Mafe to maximize their abilities. The Ravens did apply a UFA tender on Houston, but that only helps the Ravens if Houston is signed before July 22nd and doesn’t hurt the Seahawks.
