James Bradberry, Cornerback

The New York Giants released Bradberry on Monday but not because he wasn’t good; He was just very expensive. In fact, while the Giants saved $10.1 million but cutting Bradberry, they still owe him a couple million as well. Yet in Bradberry’s six years (and he has only missed two total games in the last five seasons), Bradberry has 82 passes defended and 15 interceptions.

Bradberry was Pro Bowler in 2020 and wasn’t awful in 2021. Last year, Bradberry had 4 picks, 17 passes defended and allowed 7.4 yards per target. He is also not a small corner as he 6’1″ and 212 pounds. Seattle could use corners with more size.

The Seahawks presumed starters are Sidney Jones and Tre Brown while Justin Coleman should be the slot corner. Jones has had inconsistent success in the NFL, though he was good in the second half of 2021. That doesn’t mean he will be good again in 2022, however.

Brown showed flashes of being good in very limited time for Seattle in his rookie season last year but he also suffered an injury that ended his year. Seattle can’t assume he will be good enough to be a full-time starter in Week 1 of 2022.

Next. 3 Seahawks that will shock the world in 2022. dark

Seattle drafted Coby Bryant in the 2022 NFL draft, but expecting a rookie to be good right away isn’t smart. But not only that, Bradberry is good enough to be a starter for a few years. Why not bring him in, have him start across from Jones (who is only on a one-year deal) and let Brown and Bryant season more?
