Seahawks schedule: Seattle’s 4 must-see games and when they are
By Lee Vowell
Seahawks versus Denver Broncos
Where: Lumen Field, Seattle
When: Week 1, September 12th on Monday Night Football
Why it’s among the best
This one is obvious, right? How psyched is everyone for Drew Lock’s revenge game! And Shelby Harris and Noah Fant too! I am only half-joking. Clearly, the NFL decided to put this game in Week 1 (though I wish they had waited simply to build more drama but maybe that would only be for Seahawks fans) because there was no other story more surprising this offseason than Seattle trading Russell Wilson to the Broncos.
But while Wilson might be motivated to show 12s what he can do in a different uniform, so will Lock want to prove to 12s what he can do but also show the Broncos why they gave up on him too early. Plus, Harris and Fant are good players and are going to feel extra motivated against Denver after being part of the deal for Wilson.
We could assume this game would end up in Prime Time but Week 1 makes it even better. Wilson is still going to be getting used to his new teammates and what his new offensive line (which isn’t very good still) can do. Facing Denver later in the season might be more harmful to Seattle.
This way, everyone is healthy and ready to show what they can be. Plus, it’s in Seattle and it will be really interesting to see how 12s react to Wilson wearing a Broncos uniform. I think we should applaud him as he was great in Seattle. That said, a lot of the reaction he gets might be based on what he says leading up to the game.
Either way, this will be the first game of Russell Wilson’s career where I will actively root for him to lose and lose badly. I hope he plays horribly and gets sacked 7 times. But that means no disrespect to Wilson. At the end of the day, I have been and will remain a Seahawks fan and that far outweighs any fandom I might have for one specific player.
