Football Outsiders recently ranked their most fun teams to watch in 2022. The Seahawks are normally among the top but in 2022? Not so much.

Does Russell Wilson really make that much of a difference between Seattle being watchable or not? Seattle has several players that are fun to see play, don’t they? Jamal Adams played with joy and energy. So does DK Metcalf. And nationally speaking, Metcalf is becoming a superstar whether he is the best receiver on the team or not (he might be, or maybe Tyler Lockett is).

Football Outsiders based its rankings on six criteria. This is probably where the Seahawks suffered because a lot may not apply to them. The six were team quality, quarterback (Seattle’s starter is probably still unknown yet), playmaker corps (Seattle has those, however, with Lockett and Metcalf), defense, novelty (this is things like new coaches which clearly the Seahawks do not have) and scheme.

Seahawks only fun to watch for 12s in 2022, according to one site

It’s the scheme part that general NFL fans might like about the Seahawks this coming season, though, especially defensively. Seattle should be a lot more aggressive under new defensive coordinator Clint Hurtt. Using Jamal Adams in the correct way is also going to be fun to watch and see how Hurtt maximizes his ability.

But to be real, most teams that are “fun” to watch are winning teams. No one wants to tune in and watch the Falcons unless you happen to be a fan of the team from Atlanta. Seattle isn’t expected to be as good this coming season as they have been. Of course, Seattle has enough talent to surprise people too.

It should be notated, however, that every other NFC West team is ranked eighth or higher. Arizona is third (third!) and the Rams are second. Somewhat surprisingly, Russell Wilson’s new team, the Denver Broncos, is only 12th.
