Seahawks may find gold with another former Niner

Just two years ago, the Hawks turned to the free-agent market to add to their depth at corner. They added D. J. Reed, who’d only gotten two starts in his first two years in the league. Seattle saw more in the former Kansas State Wildcat.

Reed started eight games in 2020 and started in all 14 of his appearances last season. His performance was so good, in fact, that it earned him a hefty new contract with the Jets. It also brought two rookie corners to Seattle.

Could lightning strike again for the Hawks with a former Niner? According to our counterparts at Niner Noise, it’s more than a little puzzling that San Francisco hasn’t re-signed their strong safety, Jaquiski Tarrt. It’s true that he’s spent a lot of time on IR – he’s missed 33 games in the past five years.

It’s also true that Tartt has been the starter in every game he’s played since 2016. He didn’t grade as highly as Adams, but he also was on the field for more than three times as many snaps. He has played at free safety as well and would be a great addition to bolster the Hawks depth at either position.
