The Seahawks are holding intermittent organized team activities currently. One of the players Seattle got in the Russell Wilson trade is standing out.

While there are no real games for a bit over three months in the NFL, we are inching ever closer to the time when teams can have players tackle each other. Right now teams are just holding glorified flag football practices.

That said, certain things that happen in May and June practices showcase a player’s athleticism and abilities. Think of it as the Pro Bowl only with the pretense of actually resembling football.

Seahawks Sunday news: Noah Fant looks really good

Roger Goodell quickly talks Seahawks potential sale

As 12s likely know by now, the Seahawks will likely be sold in the next few years due to the stipulations in the Paul Allen Trust. When Allen passed away in 2018, the rules of his trust were that the Seahawks and the NBA’s Trailblazers (who Allen also owned) were to be sold on his passing.

There seem to be a lot of factors that interfere with any quick sale of the Seattle football franchise, however. One is that Lumen Field is unlikely to be sold until at least 2025 and only to a buyer that makes the city happy.

But when asked two weeks ago by CBS Sports reporter Jonathan Jones when Seattle might be sold, Goodell said basically, “Wait a sec.” So who knows when and if the Seahawks will be sold but it doesn’t appear to be soon.

Noah Fant is a steal in the Russell Wilson-to-Broncos trade

Fant is making plays in OTAs and they aren’t all because he cannot be tackled. Plus, no matter who the quarterback is he is making defensive backs pay. And Fant expects to have a big year because he thinks Shane Waldron’s offense is very valuable to tight ends.

Fant is a tight end that can block but more importantly in 2022, he is a tight end that has the speed and strength to beat opposing safeties and he has tremendous hands. Fant is going to be an important part of the offense whether it’s opening holes for a running back or being flexed into the slot as a receiver.

The Seahawks might have traded Russell Wilson to Denver this offseason but they didn’t do it blindly. Seattle got Shelby Harris, Drew Lock, Fant and a bunch of picks back. Lock may or may not work out. Harris should be solid on the defensive line and supply interior pressure.

But Fant might be a very good long-term option for Seattle at tight end. He is still only 24 years old and last season caught 75.6 percent of his targets. And for Seattle, they may finally have a quarterback who can see the middle of the field well enough to hit open tight ends in the seam.
