Seahawks training camp 2022: Official reporting date announced
By Lee Vowell
On Thursday, the NFL announced its reporting dates for training camp for all teams. We now know when the Seahawks will begin full practices in preparation for the 2022 season.
Some NFL teams will have rookies report before the veterans but not the Seahawks. Seattle will have the latest possible date for rookies to report, July 26th, and this will be the same day that Seattle’s veterans will report as well.
This is important because Seattle is in the middle of a (hopefully quick) rebuild and its younger players will be monumental in whether the 2022 season is a success or not. Players like cornerback Coby Bryant and left tackle Charles Cross need all the reps they can get to prepare for Week 1.
Seattle Seahawks training camp start date announced
Seattle will definitely have more position battles to watch in training camp this year versus most years over the last eight or so. The main one, of course, is who will win the quarterback job for Seattle. Drew Lock and Geno Smith are the two players presumed to have the best chance but the Seahawks could also add another QB via trade, such as Baker Mayfield or Jimmy Garoppolo.
While Cross is expected to step in immediately and the best start at left tackle, right tackle is also up for grabs. 2022 third-round pick Abe Lucas has a good chance to also start immediately but Jake Curhan won’t make it easy for him.
Cornerback is open as well. 12s can probably safely assume Sidney Jones will be at one outside corner but Bryant will be battling with Tre Brown for the other corner. Both Bryant and Brown play with proverbial chips on their shoulders so it should be fun to watch them compete against each other.
As normal, the Seahawks training camp will place in Renton, Washington at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center with some of the practices being open to fans.
