Despite Seahawks, one site says NFC West has third best QB situation
By Lee Vowell
It’s the time of year to rank everything, it seems. And NFL.com says the NFC West has some very good QBs. Except for the Seahawks, of course.
NFL.com put out a list of divisions by the quality of their quarterback play. Not surprisingly, the AFC West was ranked as the best. Every team in that division has a quarterback who could make the Pro Bowl. Yet, the AFC West is now where former Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson plays now.
It says a lot that Wilson might not even be in the top two quarterbacks in his own division, however. Patrick Mahomes of the Chiefs is really good. So is the Raiders Derek Carr. And Justin Herbert of the Chargers might already be a top-five QB in the NFL.

But when it comes to the Seahawks, they are not only the worst in the NFC West, per NFL.com, but maybe in the entire league. NFL.com wrote:
"As for Seattle, well, Smith vs. Lock is hardly Montana vs. Young. Barring another move, this will be arguably the worst and least-inspiring quarterback battle on record."
Ouch. First of all, Geno Smith is not that bad. And Drew Lock might not be either. He had atrocious offensive coaching with the Denver Broncos and is likely going to be better simply because Shane Waldron will be the best offensive coordinator he has played under.
I am honestly not sure that even if the Seahawks added a player like Baker Mayfield they would be given any respect. People seem to like to hate on the Seahawks for whatever reason. Yes, Lock nor Smith are as good as Russell Wilson but they might be good enough in Seattle’s offensive system to win a lot of games.
And at least the NFC West overall isn’t the NFC East. Besides the Cowboys, every team in that division has a mess at quarterback. And Lock or Smith could probably start for two of the NFC East teams.
