While the Seahawks appear to have chosen a talented 2022 draft class, there are several players from last year’s team they will miss this season.

Seattle is going to be a very young team this coming year. And they want it to be that way because they chose it to be that way. A young team might be unproven but it is also hungry. Players who have played with the proverbial chip on their shoulder under Pete Carroll have mostly done well.

But the 2022 version of Seattle is one full of ifs. If the rookies do well, the team could be OK. If whoever plays quarterback for Seattle does well, the team could be really good. There are simply a lot of question marks about this season’s team.

But one thing is for sure. There are several players from last year’s team that won’t be with this season’s team that the Seahawks will miss. Here are three.

Seattle Seahawks will miss these 2021 players in 2022

Number 1: Quarterback Russell Wilson

I am starting with the easy one, of course. I think the Seahawks – maybe I should say, I hope – will be better in the next decade after trading Wilson. He might be very good for a long time or he may not. Either way, Seattle will be finding their quarterback of the future and if they choose correctly, they would have restarted the clock on their championship window.

All that said, in 2022 Seattle is going to miss Wilson. He is clearly better than whoever the Seahawks have at quarterback. While Seattle may be better long-term, they likely won’t be better this season without the best quarterback in franchise history, Wilson.

The hope for 12s should be that Russell Wilson’s new team, the Denver Broncos, isn’t very good with him. Every loss for the Broncos becomes a win for Seattle because it makes Seattle’s first-round draft pick in 2023 that they got in the trade for Wilson even better.
