The Seahawks season starts in just two months and they could still add a free agent or two. But here are some former players still looking for homes.

It might say quite a bit about other NFL teams viewed the Seahawks season in 2021 that a few key players remained unsigned. Seattle didn’t have a successful season with them so why would other teams want them?

It is possible that some of the players that follow do end up back with the team, but this seems unlikely. It will be interesting to see where they end up, if anywhere.

Several former Seahawks remain free agents just before the start of training camp

Honorable mention

Carlos Hyde

Hyde was a running back for one year with Seattle in 2020. He wasn’t bad and Seattle might need a third option at running back this year if Chris Carson can’t play. Hyde won’t be able to carry a long-term load for the Seahawks but he still has the ability to be good in spurts.

Brandon Shell

Shell has been decent at right tackle for Seattle the last couple of years but also an oft-injured one. He can’t be counted on to play anywhere near a full season. This is probably why he hasn’t signed with anyone yet.

Jimmy Graham

Graham, through no real fault of his own, was a symbol of the decline of the Seahawks. After going to back-to-back Super Bowls in 2013 and 2014, Seattle got greedy and added Graham to be a weapon for Russell Wilson. The focus of the team went more towards offense than defense and the team has gotten worse ever since.

Malcolm Smith

Smith hasn’t played in Seattle since 2014 but he deserves a mention here as he was Super Bowl MVP in XLVIII for the Seahawks. He is now 33 years old which is old for a linebacker and he might be done in the NFL.
