Seahawks losing DK Metcalf to the Baltimore Ravens?

DK Metcalf and Lamar Jackson have recently exchanged tweets but not about football teams. Their communication has been more about which has the biggest biceps. It’s humorous. But it also is the two players building a rapport. This is great for NFL fans in general but not for Seahawks fans specifically. While Jackson runs the ball a lot, he also needs people to throw to and Metcalf would be the best weapon he has had in his career.

Baltimore could also easily create enough cap space next offseason to sign Metcalf. The salary cap in the NFL is a lot more fluid than people might think. Any team in 2023 that might look like they are in dire straights currently will change by next year. Teams will have to make tough decisions but teams are also not going to be in a position where they lose all their best players. Cap room is malleable.

The Ravens currently are a lot closer to winning a Super Bowl than the Seahawks are probably. Jackson’s contract is up after 2022 but he isn’t going anywhere. This means the Ravens are going to want to build the offense around him and giving Jackson a downfield threat like Metcalf makes the team so much better.

If you glance at the Ravens roster for 2022 you will see a lot of highly-priced tight ends but not so much when it comes to wide receivers. This makes sense for Baltimore. If you thought Seattle was a run-first team (you’d be wrong in that thinking, by the way), then just wait until you see the Ravens statistics if they do what they want to do. But Metcalf would be a force for the Ravens and elevate them into true Super Bowl-contender status.
