Seattle Seahawks Madden 23 ratings are completely wacky
By Lee Vowell
Madden 23 released its rating of all NFL players for this year’s version of the game. Some of the Seahawks ratings might surprise you.
Oh, but one thing is definitely a positive from Madden 23’s ratings. Seattle has a lot of speed in 2022. 19 players have a speed rating of 90 or better. And even better, DK Metcalf (who as 12s all know is a physical freak who can run fast and leap tall buildings in a single bound) is only the third fastest member of the Seahawks.
2022 NFL draftee Tariq Woolen is given the best speed grade at 97. In fact, Woolen is the second fastest cornerback in all of the NFL for Madden 23. He trails only the Panthers’ Kalon Barnes. Metcalf, in comparison, is tied for 9th-fastest wide receiver.
But here is where the wackiness comes in. Metcalf, compared to other receivers, is top ten in speed, acceleration and strength but is only the 14th-highest rated receiver overall. Tyler Lockett is 12th overall as far as receivers go. So at least Seattle has two of the top 14 receivers.
Madden 23 doesn’t like the Seahawks roster overall
As far as quarterbacks go, Drew Lock is the Seahawks highest-rated but he is 57th-best overall. The weirdness? The next highest-rated Seattle QB is not Geno Smith (77th) but Jacob Eason at number 67. Maybe Madden 23 is hinting that Seattle’s real QB battle should be between Lock and Eason instead of Lock and Smith.
Chris Carson, who might not even play this year, is the Seahawks highest-rated running back at number 19. Rashaad Penny is 50th. Ken Walker is tied for 51st. Ouch.
But even more painful is that the Seahawks roster overall is ranked – wait for it – 30th overall in the NFL. Every other NFC West team is ranked in the top 12. If Madden 23 is correct, 12s are in for what feels like a long season for their favorite team.
