Seahawks inside linebackers (4): Jordyn Brooks, Cody Barton, Jon Rhattigan, Iggy Iyiegbuniwe

Originally I had Ben Burr-Kirven on this list but he has been released with a failed physical designation. He could end up back on Seattle’s injured reserve list should he clear waivers, which is likely, but his ability to play any time soon is anyone’s guess. His release wasn’t motivated by the size of his contract as he only was set to make $980,783 in 2022 so he is clearly hurt.

Burr-Kirven was very good on special teams, however, and this is why I am including Rhattigan in this group. He showed in 2021 that he can also be solid on special teams and Pete Carroll loves those kinds of players. This is the same reason Iyiegbuniwe is here too.

But the two most important players in this unit are Brooks and Barton. Brooks was good as a rookie in 2020 and then great in 2021, finishing second in the NFL in total tackles and first in solo tackles. That is even with Bobby Wagner still on the team.

But Wagner has been replaced by Barton and Barton must be very good. In limited time, Barton has shown he has good speed and a good ability to cover. But he needs to prove he can tackle as well as Wagner and cover the run game sideline to sideline.
