The Seahawks presumed backup running backs

I am cheating a bit here with two players instead of one. In preseason game 1, DeeJay Dallas looked explosive and strong and certainly cemented his place as RB3 or RB4 on the team. He is entering his third season with the team, knows the offense and should be with the Seahawks through at least 2023.

Travis Homer took his turn to look very good running the ball in preseason game 2. Homer started and looked a lot less pedestrian than he has in his previous three seasons when it came time for him to take a handoff and try to do anything with the ball. Homer cut well and was quick.

Homer ran 5 times for 44 yards with a long of 33 yards. We already know he is very good on special teams and calls out the alignments on punt formations and calls fakes. We saw how well that worked once last year when Homer called a fake and took it to the house for a touchdown.

Once the real games begin and Rashaad Penny plays, Seattle’s running back group should be good enough to help win football games. Penny, Dallas and Homer should be able to pick up first downs and catch passes as well to help extend drives. Hopefully, the same will be said of Ken Walker III, if he is healthy. Again, while the team looked terrible versus the Bears, the running backs were OK.
