What my gut is telling me

  • This QB competition has been so strange, it makes me wonder if it is even real. The sentiment right now is that it is Geno Smith’s job and Lock never had a chance. In a sense I agree with this, as it has always made sense to give the company man (Smith) the first shot, and let him win it or lose it. Lock then, the young and more volatile option, doesn’t have the added pressure of being the first guy to replace Russell Wilson.
  • My gut is telling me this QB competition in the bigger picture has been a sham. I believe the Seahawks have been waiting for a Jimmy Garoppolo resolution. Jimmy G was never going to be traded with that contract, and his talent and resume, when healthy, is too good for Pete and John to not jump at.

It is just a feeling, but I expect after this week’s final preseason game against the Cowboys, that Jimmy Garoppolo will be released by the 49ers on Tuesday, and Jimmy will be in Seahawks practice gear and their quarterback on Wednesday.

Until then, enjoy the game Friday, and hopefully we see a performance that Pete and the 12’s feel better about.
