Seahawks QB1 is Geno Smith

  • Geno Smith named starter
    • Geno and Lock have shown basically nothing this preseason, and yet Pete wasted no time declaring Geno Smith the starter for week one against the Denver Broncos.
I feel like this shows what makes Pete great, while also showing some of the fakeness of his principles.
    • Pete made the easy choice and the right choice for the Hawks in the building. Geno has the locker room and may have even had the locker room last year when Russ was hurt and costing the team wins. He didn’t play great, but he also didn’t play badly. With the experience and promise he showed with Lockett and DK last year, it makes sense for the chemistry and early season success potential to let Smith have a chance. I have no problem with this and will be so so happy if Smith can have great success.
    • The move also allows Lock to not have to take on the pressure of being THE guy in the deal that replaces Russell Wilson. He can come in at some point later this season, if needed, and let it rip while Seattle is probably looking at 2023 options.
  • Where I take offense with this decision
    • My problem with this decision is the fact that Pete Carrol is blatantly disregarding his most important slog/vision/mindset of “Always ComPETE”.
    • You may not like him, but you can’t tell me that Jimmy Garoppolo doesn’t help the Seahawks become a playoff team. In one of the weaker years in NFC history, it is a brutal feeling to think Seattle doesn’t want to take a shot at some magic. \
    • Jimmy was freaking one play away from a Super Bowl in 2019 and one missed interception last season from getting back to the Super Bowl. And Pete Carroll didn’t want him? How is that competing, like what are we doing here?
    • Now the Seattle Seahawks appear to be in the tank lane, while the 49ers are possibly going to disappoint while the most liked guy in the locker room sits on the bench.
    • Enjoy another NFC West title LA Rams.

Congrats to Seattle legend Ichiro Suzuki on his induction to the Mariners Hall of Fame, and to future Seattle legend Julio Rodriguez on his game-changing and life-altering mega extension.

Makes you wonder what Seahawk will be next to fill these types of shoes in the future.
