It is no secret that the Seattle Seahawks are in the midst of finding their identity. The results after the Denver Broncos Week 1 victory have been bittersweet.

The Super Bowl for the Seahawks came way too early in the season. As a matter of fact, one can argue the Broncos win set this team back. The after-effect of the effort and emotion poured into that Week 1 game was on display in a sloppy Week 2 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

Both losses for the Seattle Seahawks stem from the same two branches: poor tackling and penalties. The defensive performances in the two losses have been horrid. Awful tackling, resulting in teams racking up the rushing yards, allowing them to be more effective in the passing game.

Entering Week 4 against a gritty Detroit Lions team, the Seattle Seahawks are going to need to get their act together on the defensive side of the ball. One defensive player, in particular, can change the tide.

Seattle Seahawks: The X-Factor who can lead this team to victory

The Seattle Seahawks currently rank 31st in rushing defense, allowing 157 yards on the ground per game.

Jamal Adams has been really missed at the line of scrimmage. His explosiveness and knack for finishing every play near the ball have been a deficit too large. Not to mention the contagious energy he brings when he steps onto the field.

However, his running mate, Quandre Diggs can help pick up some slack. He is the veteran leader on this defense, hence, why he was named captain before the season. That, along with his playmaking has been absent in 2022.

One reason why Quandre Diggs is one of the highest-paid safeties in the league is because of his ball-hawking skills. He has an opportunity to get his first interception of the season this weekend going against his former team in Detroit.

Although the Lions have been explosive, they are going to be without two key players in running back D’Andre Swift and wide receiver, Amon-Ra St Brown. If Seattle can get pressure on Goff, he will be forced into poor decisions. Ones that Diggs can capitalize on.

On top of all that, Diggs is one of the better tacklers on this team. In fact, he was responsible for one of the forced fumbles against the Broncos at the goal line. He needs to set the tone early in this game and help get this defense back on track in an attempt to get his team back to .500 as we head into October.
