As the Seahawks soar, the Broncos and NFW West weakens

  • Russell Wilson watch, week 5
    • Stop giggling…I’m serious…okay, giggle a little more.
    • After a decent first half, Russ and the Broncos fell apart in the second half as they fell to the winless Las Vegas Raiders 32-23. Wilson was sacked 3 times while his old buddy Geno Smith had a clean jersey.
    • Those stats are pretty clear right now, Geno is having a considerably better year than Russ, and you know Russ is furious. This is not how it was supposed to go.
    • The loss wasn’t the worst of it for Denver, as they lost their top running back, Javonte Williams, for the year to a torn ACL and lost their big free agent signee Randy Gregory for maybe half the season.
    • This is going to be a huge blow to Denver and a huge boost to Seattle. The Broncos will not win 7 games if they try to let Russ cook. Their defense will also struggle if they can’t get pressure on the multiple pro bowl quarterbacks that remain in their schedule. Bradley Chubb will get double-teamed for the rest of the year, and the Seahawks are going to end up with a top 15 pick if Denver doesn’t get some answers quickly.
  • The State of the West
    • Imagine this summer if I told you that the Seahawks would be tied for first in the NFC West after 4 weeks. How would you react?
    • We find ourselves in this hilarious and fun position after the 49ers beat up on the defending champion LA Rams. Despite the uneven play of Jimmy G, I still think this division will eventually belong to San Francisco.
    • The Rams look like a team that is just begging Cooper Kupp and Aaron Donald to save them. We may finally be seeing some of the consequences of their all-in approach.
    • The Cardinals are getting incredible plays from Kyler Murray, but the plays are also masking the inconsistency of QB play needed to be a real contender. This team will be interesting to see when they get Hopkins back, but for now, I think they’re more likely to fall apart than win the West.

Next up on the schedule for the Seahawks is a trip to Bourbon Street to take on the Saints. Before the season, many believed New Orleans could be a surprise pick in the NFC South, but injuries and a double doink across the pond have the Saints at 1-3. Honestly, we probably won’t know which of their stars will be healthy enough to play until game day, but it could be a similar situation that we saw with the Lions missing players this week.

Next. 4 things we learned about the Seahawks in Week 4. dark

Take advantage of the opportunities that present themselves to you, and Seattle could be 3-2 before hosting the Arizona Cardinals in a potentially huge divisional game.

Enjoy the week, and go Hawks!
