Seahawks cannot stop the run

As much excitement as the Seahawks are giving us for the past 2 games, the same cannot be said with their defense, especially their run defense. For the second game in a row, Seattle’s run defense was shredded by their opponents’ running game. We were hoping for a glimpse of improvement against the Saints, however, we were left with more head scratches on this one.

Not only did Saints running back Alvin Kamara able to run for 103 yards, but the Seahawks were also gashed by New Orleans’ jack of all trades, Taysom Hill. Taysom was able to run for 112 yards against this ultra-soft Seahawks defense with 3 rushing touchdowns including a backbreaker 60-yard touchdown run that erased a Seahawks lead late in the 4th quarter.

Seattle simply had no answer for Taysom, even if everyone knew he was going to run the ball whenever he is on the field. The team’s bad tackling issue during the preseason has continued throughout this season, as they cannot wrap a player down in order for them to not be able to extend the play.

This is a big problem the Seahawks must address immediately if they want to keep up in their division as they cannot allow their opponents to keep feasting on them on the ground. It is hard enough for them to go toe to toe in the offense, and their poor run defense is not helping the cause.
