3 bold predictions for Seahawks versus Cardinals Week 6
By Lee Vowell
Prediction 1: The Cardinals offense looks a lot better but it’s a lie
The Seahawks defense is a mess. Seattle makes starts out of also-rans in the NFL. No offense to the Saints Taysom Hill but while he is a unique player he also isn’t a great player. Yet in Week 5, Seattle’s defense allowed Hill to be the NFC Offensive Player of the Week as Hill threw for a touchdown (on his only pass of the game) and ran 9 times for 112 yards and 3 touchdowns. 3!
Basically, whichever capable offensive player a team has at this point is going to look like Bo Jackson in Tecmo Bowl against Seattle. The players are an issue, yes. That the team has so many young players on defense is an issue too. But new defensive coordinator Clint Hurtt might also just be overwhelmed by his task of leading an NFL defense for the first time.
Seattle ranks 31st in points allowed through five weeks (154) and last in yards-allowed-per-play (6.6). That’s awful. But the Cardinals were supposed to have a good offense in 2022 and they are currently 18th in points-per-game (105) but have lost just 3 turnovers (30th in the NFL). This means Arizona’s offense hasn’t just been unlucky, it has been truly inefficient.
But as the Seahawks are sadly great at giving gifts to opposing offenses, expect the Cardinals to look a lot better offensively than they have so far this year. If you think that is meant as a disrespect to the Seattle defense then you are right and it rightfully is.
