Don’t dare pass to Tariq Woolen

One of the early bright spots for the Seahawks this season is the play of their rookie cornerbacks. Both Tariq Woolen and Coby Bryant have held up their own against their wide receiver counterpart. The two rookie corners, especially Tariq Woolen have proven that they can handle covering the best wideouts in this game. This game proved why the Seahawks were so high on Tariq Woolen during the preseason.

Woolen was tasked to cover the Cardinals’ deep threat, Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown, and he showed everyone what he can do by only allowing Brown to catch 5 passes for 68 yards including a fourth-quarter interception that helped sealed the victory for the Seahawks. The magnificent showing by Tariq Woolen early this season eases up the loss of safety Jamaal Adams on their defense. He is making a strong case for the Defensive Rookie of the Year award this year if he keeps up this pace.

As mentioned earlier, the Seahawks were trying to mold their defense from the Legion of Boom, and that team had a good cornerback named Richard Sherman. There were some trying to compare the two corners but Tariq Woolen is trying to write his own story for Seattle. As more game experience comes Woolen’s way, the more he will get better and this is exciting for the Seahawks.
