HB Cam Akers

Perhaps, no one has made it more clear and obvious that they want out than HB Cam Akers. In what surprised me, Akers and the Rams have had a rocky relationship in 2022. Sean McVay’s comments after the Week 1 game stirred the rift between the two sides.

The lack of urgency suggested from his head coach ironically came to fruition through the first quarter of the season. I don’t believe Akers to be lazy. I just think he is unhappy with his current role in Los Angeles. I am not saying he will be a starter in Seattle, but the fit makes sense.

The Fit: Insurance in the backfield

With Rashaad Penny out for the year, it would be wise for Seattle to acquire insurance in the backfield. Although Kenneth Walker III seems to be the real deal, solidifying the backup can help take some of the load off his shoulders. Despite the fact that DeeJay Dallas had a solid preseason, his main role in the regular season has been as a blocker.

Even though Akers wouldn’t be the starter, let’s be honest, no one loves to run the ball more than Pete Carroll. That alone should be appealing enough for Akers to come to Seattle and get about 30-40% of the carries per game.
