Seahawks CFP Championship targets: No. 5- Max Duggan, QB TCU

Arguably the player with the best story on the team that’s been the best story this season, the unbreakable Max Duggan has his Frogs one win away from their fairytale ending.

A senior backup in training camp under new coach Sonny Dykes, an injury to Chandler Morris opened the door for Duggan to shock the college football world. As quarterback, Duggan has been an efficient and accurate passer, completing 64 percent of his throws for over 3,500 yards and a 32/6 TD/INT ratio. On the ground, Duggan has shown to be a quick, elusive, and physical runner when he needs a first down or around the goal line. Duggan, who’s 6-2 205 lbs, ran for 461 yards and 8 scores on the season.

The Heisman runner-up, Duggan was fantastic against a Michigan defense that was supposed to be dominant. He threw two interceptions (both were deflections off his receiver’s hands that should have been caught), but remained unflappable, going for 4 touchdowns and nearly 300 total yards.

It doesn’t always look pretty, but Duggan gets the job done through the air and ground. He’s an incredible leader that wears his emotions on his sleeve in a real way that resonates with people. His style of play reminds me of a mix of both Brock Purdy with the drive and running style of Tim Tebow.

From a guy that probably had no dreams of playing in the NFL, he’s become a realistic target for being drafted in the first three rounds of the draft. With what Brock Purdy has shown around strong talent, Duggan could have similar success. A great story to show why you never give up.
