The Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers meet for the third time this season in Santa Clara, California on Saturday afternoon in the 2-7 matchup of the NFC Playoffs.

The Seahawks snuck into the postseason after being lined as the fourth best team in the NFC West before the season started, winning in overtime against the Rams in Week 18 and the Lions upsetting the Packers in the final game of the regular season. Now, they are a double digit underdog against their division foe that has won 10 straight games heading into the postseason.

Can Seattle get their first win against Brock Purdy and the Niners when it matters most?

Let’s check out the odds, where the total of the game is particularly interesting:

Seahawks vs. 49ers betting trends

  • The 49ers went 11-6 against the spread (ATS) in the regular season
  • The Seahawks went 7-10 ATS in the regular season
  • Both games went UNDER the total in the regular season between these two teams

Seahawks vs. 49ers prediction and pick

This total is up a point from the recent meeting between these two in Week 15, a 21-13 victory in Seattle, and I’m inclined to play back against it.

Yes, the Niners offense is scoring 33 points or more in every game but the Seahawks one with Purdy playing a majority of starts, but I don’t think we are going to see many fireworks in this game with the Seahawks floundering offense against the Niners dominant defense.

Since Week 14, the Seahawks are 2-3 and are 25th in EPA/Play on offense. Geno Smith is a contender for Comeback Player of the Year, but this offense is not playing its best ball heading into the playoffs, needing to pull one out in overtime in a must win game against a Rams team that was outside of the playoff picture.

While the Niners offense has been humming with Purdy under center, I’m still not sold how he will perform in the postseason just yet. He has not been tasked with any adversity just yet, the Seahawks are the only team over .500 that he played as a starter, and they were the only unit to slow him down.

There is plenty of familiarity between these two teams and I think we see points hard to come by. I’ll grab the under that is a bit inflated given the 49ers soft schedule of late.
