3 players who have likely played their last game with the Seahawks
By Almar Reyes
Seahawks QB Drew Lock
The player who was included in the Russell Wilson blockbuster last year, quarterback Drew Lock is looking likely to have a short-lived stint with the Seahawks. Lock is a free agent this year. He might look somewhere else where he might have a better chance of being a starting quarterback.
Lock was beaten down by Geno Smith last season for Seattle’s starting gig. Needless to say, Geno ran away with it. If Geno re-signs with Seattle, he is fully entrenched as the Seahawks starting quarterback leaving Lock as a backup spectator.
The Seahawks can still pick Lock up for cheap. It will all depend on if Seattle can lock up, no pun intended, Geno Smith this offseason. Also, one thing to keep in mind is if the Seahawks intend to draft a quarterback with one of their two first-rounders in this year’s rookie draft.
If the Seahawks go that route, then Lock is as good as gone. Lock is still young, and can still be a serviceable quarterback if he can only limit his turnover but the Seahawks can ill-afford to wait until he progresses. Even if the Seahawks fully intended not to draft a rookie quarterback, they might still look somewhere else to back Geno up for next season.
