The NFL combine is going on, of course, and the Seahawks are definitely keeping an eye on what’s going on there. But there is other news this week too. Some of which you have probably heard and maybe a bit not.

Let’s start with maybe a less notable bit of infotainment. That would be that former Seattle cornerback Shaquill Griffin will reportedly be let go by his current team the Jacksonville Jaguars in a cost-saving move for Jacksonville. Griffin has a cap hit of $17,147,055 in 2023 but if the Jaguars cut him they will only have $4 million in dead cap. Griffin is set to be a free agent again in 2024 anyway.

Griffin missed most of 2022 with an injury and in two seasons with the Jaguars he didn’t have an interception. That’s kind of been Griffin’s issue in the NFL. He covers well enough but he doesn’t create turnovers. In six seasons he has just 6 interceptions (76 games). 3 of those came in one season in 2020. The Seahawks need another good corner but bringing Griffin back might not be the best move.

Former Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner must love the Seattle skyline

So in more important news, Bobby Wagner should officially be released when the new NFL fiscal year begins on March 15th. There have been numerous reports (here is just one!) that the Seahawks are very interested in bringing him back into the fold. Wagner acts as his own agent so once he is able to speak with teams, he might quickly be signed.

Seattle needs to be one of the teams that are in contact with Wagner as soon as they can. The Seahawks could lose Cody Barton to free agency and Jordyn Brooks might not be ready by the beginning of the 2023 season. Plus, Wagner is still probably better than both of them.

But here’s the fun part. Bobby Wagner changed his Twitter header to one of the Seattle skyline. No one made him do this, of course. He chose to do so. And why, if Wagner didn’t love Seattle and 12s still love him, would he do this?

Next. Our latest mock draft!. dark

Maybe it means nothing; He just likes the pretty view. But possibly Wagner wants to come back to Seattle and hang out with his good friend K.J. Wright. Wagner would improve the Seahawks defense and he should have never been let go but the move to release him was smart as he would have cost the team $20 million. But he won’t now and he needs to be re-signed.
