Player No. 1: Seahawks should bring back Bobby Wagner
Surprise! OK, not really. This is the most obvious former Seahawks player to bring back in 2023. Seattle needs linebackers (yes, plural) and needs better quality than what they had at the position in 2022. Enter Bobby Wagner.
Wagner will be released when the new fiscal year for the NFL begins on March 15th. Until then, Seattle general manager and head coach Pete Carroll can’t really be talking to him because that would mean tampering. Wagner is technically still employed by the Los Angeles Rams currently. But Los Angeles has already said Wagner won’t be with the team next year.
But you know who can and has been recruiting Wagner to return to Seattle? The players. In particular, safety Quandre Diggs has made no secret on Twitter that he wants Wagner to come back to the Emerald City. Adding Wagner back to the Seattle defense makes the Seahawks a better team overall and Diggs knows that.
And is this just having fond memories of Wagner being great in a Seattle jersey? Nope. Wagner was a second-team All-Pro in 2022, per the Associated Press. He has been a first-team or second-team All-Pro every season since 2014. In other words, Wagner was good and he is still good and he needs to be brought back to Seattle.
