Seahawks need help at cornerback

The sadness of this group comes from the belief that the Seahawks had before the season in the players they had that they felt OK to trade Mike Jackson. Jackson had been a full-time starter in 2022 and a part-time starter in 2023. He was solid in coverage but simply did not create many turnovers. He was also relatively good at tackling.

Seattle shipped Jackson to the Carolina Panthers this offseason, and Tre Brown was given the reps most when Seattle had three cornerbacks on the field. The issue is that Brown has been atrocious in the last three weeks. He has allowed seven of the nine times he has been targeted to be completed for 117 yards and two touchdowns. He needs to be replaced.

Seattle has two options on the current roster. One is Artie Burns who has hung around in the league for several years but has not shown he can be a starter. The other is rookie Nehemiah Pritchett, who doesn't appear to be ready to take on a lot of reps.

Seattle could think about bringing Jackson back in a trade. He has played about the same level with his new team, the Carolina Panthers, as he was with Seattle in the last couple of seasons. He does have an interception this year, though.

Another option is Cincinnati Bengals veteran Mike Hilton. He is in the final year of his deal and is 31 years old. He probably is not a long-term option for Cincinnati, so they could be looking to get a mid-round draft pick back for Hilton.
