49ers defender foolishly pokes fun at DK Metcalf's trade request (and JSN too)

Plus, Tyler Lockett did not get his own day.

The Seattle Seahawks have one-upped themselves this week compared to the same week in 2024. Last year, Seattle needed to make cap room and released veterans Quandre Diggs, Jamal Adams, and Will Dissly. This offseason, Seattle could be making monumental moves comparable to Russell Wilson being traded in 2022.

The team released wide receiver Tyler Lockett, a long-time fan favorite who is one of the best wide receivers in Seattle football history. The issue is that the team appeared to want Lockett to have his own day after the team released four players on Tuesday. Moving on from Lockett and having him be the story of the day was only fair to one of the best players in Seahawks history.

But, oh no. Lockett's news was eclipsed in about 15 minutes as Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network broke the news that DK Metcalf had requested a trade from the team. Metcalf still has a year left on his current contract, and while he is expensive, he will be consistently even more so beginning in 2026.

49ers CB handed Jaxon Smith-Njigba bulletin board material with embarrassing comments

Should Seattle move on from Metcalf if the return value is good enough? Maybe. But San Francisco 49ers cornerback Deommodore Lenoir was not wasting any time in giving his opinion. He was not so much worried about the 49ers beating a Metcalf-less Seahawks team but was thinking that playing Seattle would be less fun.

Lenoir also took time out to disrespect wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, seemingly just for fun. Lenoir said, "Y’all cannot let DK (Metcalf) leave. How am I going to have fun out there? Njigba he be crying all day. That’s all he do is cry…Crybaby."

The issue for Lenoir is that he seemingly forgets that he had real issues covering JSN last season. In Week 11, which was a 20-17 Seahawks victory, Smith-Njigba caught 10 passes (on 11 targets) for 110 yards. Lenoir covered JSN seven times, and the receiver caught six of those targets for 50 yards.

In essence, Lenoir appears to have been the one "crying" as he was throwing shade at a wide receiver who abused him in the last meeting between the teams last year. Smith-Njigba probably will do again in future years, too. Metcalf might not, though.

Lenoir seemed unhappy to see Metcalf potentially go. Possibly, the 49ers cornerback simply likes for opponents to talk smack through most of the game as Metcalf does. Lenoir's problems are real, though, at least in terms of him trying to once again likely be unsuccessful in covering the Seahawks' true WR1, Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
