Another poor showing in Week 4 could force a major decision for Seahawks

Seattle still needs to be better.

The Seattle Seahawks have an improved offensive line in 2025. Quarterback Sam Darnold has only been sacked three times through three games, for instance. Through Week 3 of last year, former QB1 Geno Smith had been sacked eight times. Things are better.

But they are still far from great. While pass protection is solid, run blocking is not. Seattle is 28th in the NFL, averaging just 3.3 yards per carry. While the team is 2-1. If the run game does not improve, then the Seahawks are going to suffer a loss or three because they can't run the ball.

Once again, though, the biggest offender along the O-line is right guard Anthony Bradford. After a decent start to the season against the San Francisco 49ers, he has struggled. Most glaringly, he was awful in Week 3 against the New Orleans Saints.

Seattle Seahawks once again need a replacement for Anthony Bradford

The offensive line overall allowed seven pressures. Bradford gave up three of them. For an interior offensive lineman to lead his team in pressures allowed is criminal, and one that opponents will certainly take advantage of.

According to Pro Football Focus (subscription required), the right guard receive a grade of 0.0 in pass protection against the Saints. Through three games, Bradford's pass-block grade is 32.2, which is seventh-worst in the NFL. Three seasons into his career, it is clear Seattle needs an upgrade at right guard.

Bradford's most obvious replacement hasn't been good, either, though. Still, Seattle might have no choice but to try Christian Haynes instead of Bradford at his spot once Haynes comes of the injured reserve list. Haynes has to sit out through at least Week 4, but could be activated after that.

Week 4 could be a real problem for the Seahawks and Anthony Bradford. The Arizona Cardinals have an improved defense, and can get interior pressure on quarterbacks. Defensive lineman Calais Campbell already has nine pressures, including two sacks, this season.

If Arizona is smart, they are lining up Campbell over Bradford a lot. Interior pressure is difficult for any quarterback, and one way for the Cardinals to limit Sam Darnold is to get pressure in his face. Campbell, overwhelming Bradford, could supply that pressure.

Mack Wilson Sr. has five pressures on the season from his inside linebacker spot, and it wouldn't be surprising if the Cardinals send inside blitzes designed to go straight at Bradford.

The brutal truth is that Bradford has to be better, but he might not be capable of being so. The Seattle Seahawks' overall line is solid, but they need all five players working at a high level to be successful. Bradford isn't doing that. He could be replaced when Christian Haynes is ready to return as soon as Week 5.
