Super Bowl LX is almost upon Seattle Seahawks fans (New England Patriots fans, too, of course, but they aren't our concern here). Coaches, players, and fans are getting more nervous. It's almost like Christmas, and we just want some good gifts.
Neither Seattle nor New England was expected prior to the season to reach the title game. Heck, neither was really expected to make the playoffs. Instead, each team went 14-3, proving they weren't just good, they were very good.
But what will happen in Super Bowl 60? Will the game be a blowout? Not a fun narrative, unless, of course, it is the Seahawks that are doing the blowing out. Here are four predictions for what might happen (though, ultimately, just a Seattle victory would be good enough).
Four bold predictions for Super Bowl LX between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots
New England Patriots run six trick plays
Many people seem to think the Patriots' offensive line against the Seahawks defense live is a mismatch, and maybe it is. One could also assume that what they have seen from New England's offense this postseason is misleading. The Patriots have played in some terrible weather, and it isn't like the other offenses are doing much either.
Still, Seattle's defensive front, featuring Leonard Williams, Jarran Reed, and Byron Murphy, will be difficult for the Pats. One way to get Seattle to feel a bit nervous is for New England offensive coordinator Joshy Boy McDaniels to dial up a bunch of trick plays, something he has done plenty in the past.
Most will fail, but New England will have an explosive play early in the game on a wide receiver pass.
Coby Bryant has two interceptions
One of the best aspects of Bryant's game has always been his penchant for forcing turnovers. He forced four fumbles in his rookie season of 2022 and has had three and four interceptions in each of the past two seasons, respectively.
He also has a bunch to play for in the game. He is a free agent this coming offseason, and with a brilliant performance on the NFL's biggest stage, he can earn himself even more money. He is one of the best examples of what Mike Macdonald can do at the safety position, and hopefully, Bryant returns to the team in free agency.
Sam Darnold has just 175 yards passing, no touchdowns, and one interception
Darnold hasn't thrown an interception in three games, but the Patriots are quite good at taking the ball away. Unless the Seahawks quarterback throws a pick-six on the first play of the game, the damage from any potential turnovers might be limited by Seattle's great defense.
Moreover, Darnold likely doesn't need a great game for his team to win. In three of Seattle's last seven games, the quarterback has thrown for fewer than 175 yards, and the team has won each of those games. He simply doesn't need to do the Geno Smith thing of taking terrible sacks and having turnovers deep in Seahawks territory.
Kenneth Walker runs for 200 yards and three touchdowns
To be sure, the Patriots defesnive line is no joke. In fact, one of the key factors that could turn the game in the Patriots' direction is if Milton Williams and Christian Barmore have their way with the interior of the Seahawks offensive line. But strange things happen in Super Bowls, and Walker's breaking off three explosive runs will be the newest one.
Walker, like Coby Bryant, is still playing for his next contract. He will be a free agent this offseason. With a huge game in the Super Bowl, he could be the hottest name on the running back market. He will also be the MVP of Super Bowl LX.
