A wise move...

Daniel Jeremiah of the NFL Network knows a lot about the draft process. He has earned the moniker of guru that is bandied about but rarely deserved. Jeremiah has been right about prospects far too much to be dismissed, and the Seattle Seahawks likely don't dismiss what Jeremiah says.

The guru recently mentioned that Notre Dame running back Jadarian Price would be a wise selection by general manager John Schneider, and that would make sense. The team lost Kenneth Walker III in free agency this offseason to the Kansas City Chiefs. Presumed 2026 starter Zach Charbonnet tore his ACL in the playoffs.

This means Seattle needs a running back it can rely on to be explosive while also churning out the dirty yards. Price can do that. But it is what Jeremiah said about Price on Seattle Sports 710 AM on Thursday that makes even more sense.

Daniel Jeremiah has the best draft advice for the Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks could still take Price with their first pick, sure, but that first selection might not come until the second round. Seattle is in a good spot for grabbing the second-best running back in the 2026 NFL draft because the teams around them have greater needs. The other aspect is that Seattle only has four choices in 2026.

Jeremiah said, "If you’re going to say, where does he fit and where are the guardrails of where he fits, I’m like, well, there’s no better fit than Seattle...I think obviously they’d love to trade back (from the No. 32 pick), and if you could trade back and scoop him up and then get some other assets as well, it would make a lot of sense."

That would be the perfect scenario for the Seattle Seahawks. The team would fill an immediate need with the second-best player at his position in the draft, though one who needs to learn how to be a better receiver and better in pass protection. Those skills can be learned in the NFL. But moving back while getting Price also gives Schneider more picks.

While there is no guarantee that a team just behind a team that chooses at No. 32 would want to trade up, advantages do exist for moving back into the first round. The main one is that it gives the team moving up a fifth-year option for the player they take at 32.

For Schneider and the Seahawks, by the time they would have chosen in the first round, the presumed elite players would be off the board already. The draft isn't deep with high-end talent, but it is good for teams looking to add pieces who can provide quality depth. That is exactly where Seattle sits.

One of the few players likely available to them who could be an immediate starter is Jadarian Price. If Seattle follows Jeremiah's suggestion, trades back, takes Price, and picks up extra selections, John Schneider would be on his way to yet another brilliant draft class.
