Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider has pulled off a number of trades since the preseason, and few have worked out extremely well. In fact, trading cornerback Mike Jackson hurt the team when Seattle had a number of CBs get injured and no real proven quality among the backups. Plus, Tre Brown earned the starting job over Jackson in the preseason, and Brown hasn't been very good.

Another trade before the season saw Seattle add veteran edge rusher Trevis Gipson from the Jacksonville Jaguars. Gipson wasn't expensive to bring to the team, and that is a good thing because Gipson has been atrocious when he has been available for games. In a proposed trade by Logan Ulrich of NFL Trade Rumors, Seattle would send Gipson to the Detroit Lions.

The Lions lost edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson for the season to a leg injury. Besides Hutchinson, Detroit did not have much depth among players who could chase down quarterbacks. Ulrich believes Gipson can help the Lions do that.

Seahawks ship Trevis Gipson to Detroit Lions for a late-round pick in a proposed trade

Seahawks receive: Seventh-round draft pick
Lions receive: Edge rusher Trevis Gipson

Ulrich rightfully thinks Gipson has less trade value now than when the Seahawks gave up a sixth-round pick for him, so in the move to Detroit, Seattle would only get back a seventh-round draft choice. The important thing is that Seattle getting anything back for Gipson would be a good thing.

He has been a healthy scratch for the last few games because, in his first five games, he accomplished nearly nothing. In 47 snaps, he has one total quarterback pressure (a hurry) and has zero tackles. He did whiff on one, however, so his missed tackle rate is 100 percent. He shouldn't be getting any snaps in the future,

That is why moving Gipson is unlikely. No team is probably going to take any chances on a player that might simply be done in the NFL. He is more likely to be released than traded. Still, should the Seahawks be able to trade him, then that would be a massive win for Seattle and a bad trade for the Lions.
